Suminat 50 mg is an oral tablet formulation of sumatriptan, used to treat acute migraine attacks with or without aura. It does not prevent migraines or reduce the number of attacks; instead, it works to alleviate the symptoms of a migraine once an attack has started.
Each tablet of Suminat 50 mg contains 50 mg of sumatriptan succinate, which acts on the brain’s blood vessels and serotonin receptors to stop a migraine in progress.
Sumatriptan, the active ingredient in Suminat, is a selective serotonin (5-HT1) receptor agonist. Migraines are believed to be caused, in part, by the dilation of blood vessels in the brain and the release of certain inflammatory substances.
